A very interesting electric lighting service pole is seen one the left with an old cast iron transformer and all kinds of early pole construction upon it.

An open-type arc light (introduced in the 1880's) is also seen. It had a metal hood atop it to protect its electric arc from the rain and was mounted on a spanwire to illuminate this intersection.
