Telephone openwire circuits were strung along the left of this Maine community's downtown. On the right we see electric utility lines. Atop the latter is an early single-circuit multipart transmission line, probably from a generating station nearby. Maine had lots of hydro plants throughout the state and more than likely this line originated from one of them. Beneath are circuits for local electric lighting customers along with an old distribution transformer on the pole on the right.
