Sometime when hunting or researching a telegraph line whole insulators and examples are nearly impossible to find. Not finding insulators on a line that once held thousands and thousands occurs for various reasons. I live among such lines. I have found a fun and challenging way to document and get examples of the insulators used on that line. I go on my hunts and look for whatever I can find. If I find a chip of glass I try to identify it . If it is not an example already in my collection OR if it is a better example, I bring it home. Once home the next fun challenge is to locate a whole insulator that matches it to color and embossing. Once I do that I have a set as you see here. This way I can have an actual insulator from the line even though it is damaged and then show what it looks like relatively undamaged. It is my hope that in the future I can share more of the story of the line I have chosen to enjoy.
