EIN 040. PATENT / DEC. 19, 1871 front crown, #2 rear crown and B rear skiirt. Color is ice blue with steamy light milk passing over from rear side of dome through the center of embossing embossing on front crown then down into front skirt. Also has a few smaller bubbles and a little fizz. The condition is very good but not perfect. Here's my damage report : Sounda worse then is and this old insulator actually displays quite well. So with that said, first it looks like maker had tough time removing from mold. Excess glass squeezed between the molds at the base of the skirt all the way around. Their is some minor flaking from breakage of that excess glass as you go around piece. However in one area directly below 71 of 1871 at the base of skirt there is a slightly larger flake then all the rest. onder the base to the right of that skirt flake there is the largest of three shallow base flakes. It is about 1/2" long. The other two are much, much smaller. Otherwise the base is perfect. Now above that same skirt flake I already mentioned there is a shallow external flake that comes out of wire groove and goes down 1/2" at the top of skirt. One last thing before we move to rear side. There is what I'll call a flea bite about in the center of front skirt that has a little rust stain or something. A little more of the rust looking stain in wire groove. All that staining you can see in my pic. You may even be able see traces of train soot at the base of skirt. The rear side of piece only has an inclusion just above the rim of dome that the glass popped out of.
