Spanwire street lights were rather common for illuminating intersections from the early arc light days of the 1880s through the 1960s in the US and Canada. Seeing a double arrangement of such street lighting fixtures is quite rare and unusual since I am a collector of old street lights and related items. The fact that these are of then-popular incandescent, ruffled-shade, "radial wave" design certainly makes this image a very nice example of 1950s Americana ;-)
