View looking west at the North side of Wellington street from Leader Lane in Toronto circa 1867. Nice threadless pole line visible with typical 1860's construction using only side pins. I count 17 side pins on the closest pole with another threadless on the top ridge pin. The other pole is too far away to make out any insulators but you can clearly count 10 thick iron wires leading to the pole. Click "View Original" to get the best view of the threadless pole.

UPDATE: Thanks to Rob Lloyd - the building on the right closest to the camera is the Montreal Telegraph Office, look at the sign in the window. Also, many of the wires are actually going into the building around the second floor middle window!
