"Buckarm" was a term (and still is used) for an identical crossarm on each side of a pole and in most instances they were used for deadending open wire....for telegraph, telephone and electric service openwire at their terminations. Such "double-arming" was also and still is widely employed within the electric and communications utilties as standard construction for corner bends that still use open wire.
