The green "I" dome is from a couple weeks ago. The rear skirt is mostly missing and has been as long as the insulator has been buried. The aqua "V" dome was dug in last fall. It is cracked. I found my first 145 American in the summer of 1976 in the ditch next to the tracks. Thought it was an unmarked insulator until the base mud began to be scraped off. This wasn't an insulator listed in volume 1 of the Tibbetts books, the only book in the library on insulators and the only reference material Id ever seen. It was a big thrill to discover those base embossed patent dates on a "new discovery". The insulator was all cracked and irridized but that only added to it's aura of antiquity. Have had a soft spot for Oakman stuff ever since. It still gave me a charge to find the 2 pictured here, even with their damage.
