Note there are two pretty old open wire comm lines here...each on opposite sides of this image. Both could have been for telegraph service (since competing telegraph companies sometimes ran their lines along each side of the same RR right-of-way, at least here in the Northeast). Or maybe one was for telephone service. If so, methinks it was the one along the left since Ma Bell had a lot of 6-pin over 10-pin construction here in New England at the time this photo was taken....
