It's exactly 31 miles from the gas pump at the Hess station to the Sunday flea market I usually attend weekly located in Livingstonville, N.Y.. That is somewhere in between the pass through the Catskill mountains that connect the Scoharie valley to the Hudson valley via Route 145. Yesterday it was pretty cold riding my motorcycle through that pass. So cold that I nearly had frost bite on my hands being I didn't wear gloves. Took me five minutes just to remove the strap from my helmet. Another five minutes later I picked up the pointed domed Star beehive that was mixed in with a couple B's. Nearly passed it up but purchased it because of the bubble. It was covered in coal soot so I thought the color was a light aqua. To my surprise it turned out to be green once it took it out of the acid bath. Hate to walk away from any hunt empty handed so I am pleased. While at the same fleamarket I learned another fleamarket that runs for one week I attend was in its final day. Racing home to pick up the Altima I drove an additional 130 miles to Brimfield Mass. where I picked up the two other Star insulators you see in this pic. The 162 in the center is green with amber and snow. The insulator to the right is a CD 162.3. Someone else recently asked about the difference between the two signals. This pic should surely show. According to the seller another well known collector named Dario passed these up. He was just looking to add to his threadless collection. I will be adding a couple more pics of other pieces I also picked up at Brimfield. Probally could have found a few more if I'd arrived earlier then 1 PM. Most vendors were packing up their wares as I arrived. |
