A telephone subscriber lead extends along the left with another (taller) pole nearby it. I am unable to determine what kind of insulators or related stuff fashion the top of it. However these could be porcelain insulators for electric service in an arrangement that were in an odd position for the photographer, keeping us insulator enthusiasts a century later scratching our heads :-)
