Up for sale is a handsome unembossed Canadian CD 143 which I've decided to weed from my collection. Not to imply that they're pesky like weeds, but rather that I simply have too many insulators (an affliction I'm sure many of you can relate to), and need to part some out. The piece for sale is the fairly crisp blue example on the right in the photos - a bright and beautiful colour that stands out when compared to the dozens of normal aqua examples that dot the sheds and basements of any number of Canadian collectors' homes. The example on the left in aqua is for colour comparison only. I don't turn a lot of these unembossed 143s up these days, and it seems like colours other than aqua are almost non-existant in these parts. This piece is clean and shiny, with a sizable carbon-trailed bubble at the base of the pinhole on one side, and a noticable pairing of bright amber streaks and a bit of a milky swath on the other. You choose the side you want to display it from because it will look good from either! The condition of this one is pretty good for a piece from the 1880s or 1890s. There is one 1/2" by 1/8" deep base flake on the side with the milk and amber, right next to the left mould line, as well as a very minor inner base edge fan crack of about the same size in the centre of the skirt on the same side. There are a couple minor little fleabites on the opposite crown, as well as one 1/16" peck. All in all not too bad. I'm asking $14.00 U.S. plus shipping for this example of a somewhat tough and very pretty colour. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. All the best! |
