Here are three different Brookfield-made beehives, each with some cool bubble action going on. On the left is a blue B [010] with a backwards 10 on the dome and a very large bubble in the rear skirt below a deep and wide straw mark on the rear crown. You can see the base chip; it is associated with a two-inch shallow sliver, and there is a small open base bubble on the opposite side. In the middle is a CD 145 CREB [100] (F-Crown) (Arc)W. BROOKFIELD/45 CLIFF ST/N.Y. (R-Crown 4 /PAT/JAN. 25TH 1870 {MLOD} SB in light aqua. There are several small bubbles throughout, but in the front crown, there are two larger, elongated ones. One Is angled and bent behind BROOKFIELD, and the other looks like a torpedo under 45 CLIFF. Damage is minimal and includes a couple of dings to the rear crown and wire groove, some wire rub in front groove, and a small nibble at the base of the inner skirt near the left mold line. It has the early small embossing, and the glass has a pure watery look to it with none of the milky steam trails so often seen in these ancient beehives. On the right is a CD 145 postal style [020] (Dome) OX (F-Skirt) BROOKFIELD SB in dark aqua. It has a good-size bubble in the front skirt just above and to the left of the embossing. Minor damage is limited to a ¼" scratch on the upper wire ridge in the rear and some roughness around the sharp inner edge of the inner skirt. Some short straw lines in the crown add further character. Inquiries welcome. |
