Two Different Gorgeous Cobalt Hemingray Signals, CD 162

The piece on the left is a gorgeous light cobalt blue with vertical milk stringers up and down the front (best seen if you use the "view original" link at the top of the page.) It is EIN [070] with sharp drips. There is a shallow flake removing ¾ of one drip at the left mold line. On the petticoat is a small open bubble and there is a 1 MM flea bite on the wire rim. Easily grades at VNM

The piece on the right is a brilliant dark cobalt Patent 1893, EIN [240]. This style has a different mold style than the later versions. In this variant, the wire rim has a very sharp edge which often has protrusions of overflowed glass. Because of its sharpness, it is prone to chipping. This specimen has a section of very shallow flaking above the mold line which is ¾" wide and 1/8" tall. It is in the front above the "GRA" and is at the right edge of the photo. There is another ¼" wide shallow clam shell flake just in front of the left mold line also visible in photo. The drip points are predominantly sharp but ¼ of them are underpoured and are therefore rounded. Three of the sharpies have flakes removing about half of each one. This is about as brilliant a cobalt as you'll find. Book is 400-500,
