Complementing the last photo which I think is great (click "Previous") is this one from my files. It shows a ladder truck with its serviceman relamping an old 1920s post-top fixture. In the 1950s bucket trucks slowly but surely started to become popular. By the end of the 1960s most utilities had them within their fleet. They were often a lot safer and logistically got the utility work done faster and more economically than previous methods.
