Steel poles were used here with large U-clamps affixing their crossarms to them. Note the CD 257 "Mickey" insulators lining the lower crossarm on the pole in the foreground. A large cast iron electric lighting service transformer is seen on the next pole, behind. I believe this is a portion of a Shorpy image.
