Saugus, MA 1908, Early Incandescent Gooseneck Street Light

This fixture dates to around 1900. Two glass insulators were mounted on a cast iron bracket on the end of the pipe-arm just above the fixture head for terminating the lead-down wires. A coupling electrically insulating the fixture from the gooseneck bracket is also seen (above the fixture). Sometimes a CD 280 glass insulator or its equivalent was used for the same purpose through the years.
