Photo taken in the mid 1950s. The street light on the mastarm in the foreground had a porcelain body that had its "gumball" type globe affixed to it. The fixture was incandescent street-series, much like most street lights that extended through California towns at the time. A limited number of original and similar fixtures with incandescent lamps within them still survive to this day within the LA Basin communities. However newer light sources with totally boring 21st-century fixtures are quickly replacing them as I speak... |
