Up for sale is a Hemingray 42 with a most unusual metal impurity within its glass. This piece was plucked in April of 2003 from the old Canada Southern (Michigan Central) line near Blenheim, Ontario. In a sea of Hemingray 42s, it somehow stood out as being a little different as I almost immediately spotted a bit of metal inside the glass! Not too dramatic an impurity, but Hemi 42s don't come with metal inclusions too often. The impurity looks to be the head from a nail or maybe a tack. It measures about 3/16" by 1/8" and is clearly visible as a steely metal coloured blob behind the right mould line in the skirt. Some light, whispy amber swirls run off the impurity and up into the rear wire groove. The piece is a normal Hemi aqua colour, and is the [070] embossing The damage consists of a 1/8" ping over the right upper wire ridge towards the rear, a 1/4" flat flake on the rear lower wire ridge, and 2 chipped drips in the rear skirt with an associated 1/2" flat base flake that does not show very easily from the outside of the skirt - one has to pick it up and examine to piece to see it. I'm asking $12.00 U.S. plus shipping for this one. Give it a good home! I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. All the best! |
