Some really neat telephone open wire crossarm construction is seen on the right that quite probably didn't meet the Bell System's rather strict standards ;-) Most likely this line was owned by one of the many independent Ma-and-Pa phone companies that once existed in Vermont as well as in nearby New Hampshire, Maine and New York State.
