Sometime back in the 1980's I was searching the old CPRR tracks near Wells, Nevada as I knew that many Brook's Ramshorns were discovered along that right of way. I drove several miles along the service road until reaching what looked like was once a work camp. All that remained were very small building foundations. I saw a mound of dirt where someone had been digging for bottles at some point in the past so I got out to investigate. Atop the digging pile were several pieces of aqua E.C. & M. insulators which I anxiously collected. In spreading out from the site, I found the bases to numerous square redwood poles which had been cut off at ground level. A few also had pieces of E.C.& M.'s. When I used to display my early telegraph collection I used the pieces in my displays. Alas, no more displays and rather than leave the stuff in a box in the garage, I'm tossing them out there to see if they have value to anyone. If so, I will ship the whole lot for $30.00 post paid. If no one is interested, I will institute plan B. |
