Here is an odd one found in the Redding, Ca area yesterday by Paul Greaves and myself . It is a dark sandy Victor M-4325 with a blond marked Fred Locke M-4384 top . The cement is original portland cement. We found three examples of this on this line two marked and one unmarked at different pole sites . So what's the deal ? By 1907 or so most victor multi's were being shipped cemented or at least partly cemented together so how did this happen . Could there have been surplus M-4384 tops at the factory? To make it even more interesting this M-4384 top is a very early one made in a three part mold with 1903 production characteristics ... the top is not only blond but it is also warty . probably the nicest M-4384 top I have ever seen as you can see part of the top was found still cemented to the lower skirts . The lower skirts are nearly five years newer then the top! We carefully removed the remaining parts of the top from the lower skirts in the field so as not to further damage the top. The cement was badly decomposed but still barely holding the top on We found all the pieces of the top scatted over a 10 yard stretch on the hillside . I will post more photos when it is repaired . We have documented cases where an early multipart with damaged top was refitted with a later top sometimes even of a different manufacture ... but this has to be as one of the oddest anomalies Paul and I have ever come across... here is a view of the complete the top [id=394347304]
