Nice unpaved New Hampshire backroad with a telephone open wire line along it using crossarms affixed to their poles via two diagonally-mounted lag screws (look close!) along with standard crossarm braces. This type of phone openwire construction was commonplace with Ma Bell at least here in New England through around 1910 when crossarms were required. After then 10-pin arms were the typical rule and always with a single center bolt for mounting along with the same over-the-crossarm method of mounting the braces, usually 28 or 30 inches in length (the majority of the old ones were reused along with most insulators during pole changeovers and upgrades).
