The latter was of the gooseneck design with a conical, curved surfaced reflector. The single-stamped ruffled-shade varieties were introduced a few years earlier...around 1912 or so.

Also note the two insulators mounted on the front of this building. These were for electric lighting service. This kind of attic entry was fairly common in the early days (before around 1910).
