Telephone openwire terminated upon the pole on the right via a wooden junction box (seen lower on the same pole). The latter had connections within it combining the subscriber circuits of this Maine community to bundled paired cable... thus crossing the street leading to a central office with operators within it, in one of the buildings on the left.

An electric lighting circuit can also be seen on the far left with an old gooseneck street lamp fixture upon it.
