Rapid growth of telephone subscribers and electric lighting customers certainly were among the reasons why Denver, Colorado vicinity glassworks came into existance in the later 1890s providing plenty of glass insulators to utilities in adjacent states as well for at least a decade.

Many of these Denver-area insulators soon turned purple after exposure to the sun's UV rays and they surely must have been a stunning sight to see upon pole lines in their day!
