By typical I mean what was pretty much the standard as one viewed the pole-line furniture about 60 years ago here in New England. A lot of Ma Bell's telephone openwire was replaced by paired cable commencing during the mid to late 1960s here in New England. There are some exceptions of very scattered single-customer open wire runs through remote areas that are believed to still be in service.
