I'll bet you that this very well-overbuilt pole was fun for linemen to climb ;-) And if nothing prompted its demise since when this photo was taken, it probably is standing right now in sturdy condition serving some sort of utility purpose other than supporting openwire (of course). This pole stood in front of a cool-looking roadside gas station/variety store in this New York State community. The wires upon this pole either were for local subscriber or long distance (AT&T) circuits.
