Here we see some 10-pin telephone openwire construction with pole-top fire alarm circuits mounted above in the background. The latter were extremely vital in their day and general practice was to mount them above all other pole lines. Otherwise falling open wire from telephone and electric lighting wires would possibly disrupt their operation especially during storms.
