I went on a typical ride today along one of my regular routes. I didn't expect to find anything, but I just had to go look. You know the feeling. My first stop, one of my most favorite shops, was a disappointment. Well, actually, it wasn't really a stop as the shop was closed, so I continued on down the road. My second stop wasn't really an antique shop. It was a consignment shop and I almost didn't stop. In fact, I almost missed the driveway and had to apply my brakes pretty hard. I looked through the different rooms and glanced at the usual used clothes, furniture, wax candles and car parts. It wasn't until I got to the last room that I saw anything that fell in the antique category. On the far wall I could see one lone insulator. Is that what I think it is? Here is what I saw. It had four dollars on the sticker. You are going home with me little fellow. When I got up to the counter the man said "that is my last one". "Huh", I mumbled. He continued, " I sold all the others yesterday". "The purples, the green ones, the one with the pointy dome all sold yesterday". "A couple from WV said they collected insulators and they bought all except this one". I have been wondering....what the heck did they buy that would make them leave a CD 127 with no embossing?? |
