Installed in 1925 by the LIRR for their Babylon electrification, it used rotary converters to put out the 650vDC for the third rail. Taken down in 1969 and replaced by rectifiers when New York State bought the railroad from the Pennsylvania RR. 33kv from Nassau County came in to this, now the rectifier ubs use the LILCO (now LIPA) 13kv power. Photographed 1962. Westinghouse equipment was used.
