While checking on the progress of a line being wrecked out, I decided to get a look at one of the lead-head pins on one of the crossarms and can now see why so many of the large multiparts on the line were often seen leaning at odd angles. The threads on the pin were almost non-existent; likely caused by 50+ years of the wires swaying in the breeze (not to mention the occasional storm).
