The two wires upon the tops of these really neat looking poles serviced the "gumball" style street lights that you see here. Mounted lower on spool-racks were lines for electric customers in this Illinois downtown. The brackets you see next to the street light fixtures were for securing the ends of up-mounting ladders for street lamp maintenance.
