This good looking 10-pin line ran along the rear of a tennis court in the forementioned community. These guitar-string-tight wires were strung upon ten-pin crossarms mounted on short, skinny "stick" poles....as I've always called them. There weren't too many of these short poles around here but I fondly remember gawking at many of them in NH, VT and ME as a little kid while on family trips out the rear window of my parent's car. I always thought this kind of line construction was the neatest thing *ever* to be seen in a field, along a road, railway, etc ;-) I also envisioned while seeing lines like this at a distance that their 10-pin, 10-foot-long crossarms were longer than the poles they were mounted on. And that the crossarms were about the approximate width of the poles themselves. Well, a lot of them probably were! |
