Went to my favorite insulator haunting grounds yesterday. Other local insulator collectors also work the show, so you have to work harder and smarter to find things. I don't often find Canadian insulators so far from home so it is always a surprise. On the left is a Can Pac CD 143 in a gorgeous blue. Is this an odd one or normal? I thought the wire groove was lower on these units. The one on the right is a real find. A 2-tone no name Canadian pony in silver/clear with lavender swirls throughout the insulator. Got my Dudley Ellis book on Canadian ponies, but still not sure if it is a listed mold variant. 3 piece mold, large diameter dome mold ring, no skirt bar(s), one side has I believe a B.T.Co. OF CAN. blot out (really obliterated) over a Diamond symbol blot out. The reverse side has a series of six 1/4" diameter circular blot outs over another blotted out Diamond symbol. Two mold repairs are also visible along the mold line at the base. According to the seller the pony came from Saskatchewan. |
