I went to a local auction Saturday and decided on the way back to go through a small town to look for antique shops. Well I stopped at one and low and behold the guy worked for the local town owned phone company. I asked if they had insulators and he said thousands. He showed me the insulators taken down from the lines in 1974 and still had them .I didn't see a single insulator worth over a few dollars but did buy a nice Hemingray blue No. 12 just to show some interest. There were Brookfield's kegs,, O.V.G. co., Brookfield102's, Hemingrays 9,12,56,tons of 42's,45's, etc. He said his son has some insulators too and funny he lives 5 houses form me and walked his dog and we chatted sometimes when I was outside early in the morning. Small world huh! I remember chatting insulators but didn't think he had much as he did say he had a few. Father and son said they didn't have any of the colored ones other than aqua. The truck is in excellent condition and was a Bell Telephone truck. 1949 Ford? The phone company is still an independent phone company too. Amazing that it wasn't bought out by a big company. |
