Openwire telegraph lines extended along both sides of this railroad right-of-way. Here in southern New England some locations had Western Union lines on one side of the track with Postal or B&O Telegraph circuits along the other. So, it is VERY important to thoroughly check BOTH sides of any RR right-of-way for insulators anywhere! ...because sometimes competing operating companies ran their wires along the same trackage and the fact that newer lines were sometimes added to the opposite side of the tracks during lengthy pole-line conversions.
