These were electric distribution lines to local residential customers as well as businesses. Most if not all of the tall trees you see here fell during the Great 1938 Hurricane. All of the buildings you see remain pretty much the same. Weymouth is about 15 miles SE of Boston, MA. When this photo was taken electricity service was provided by the Weymouth Light and Power Company.
