Here is a look at the tops of a couple of older Lapps rescued yesterday as a result of an auto accident knocking a really tall pole over. The 13,800-volt alunimum conductors were quickly torn from the tops of these posts as the heavy creosoted pole toppled over resulting with "skid marks" around the insulators' saddle groove telling a lot of the story! None of the lines were broken although the circuit tripped during this event, causing an outage to approximately 2,500 customers. None of the insulators were damaged and thanks to National Grid I added them to my outdoor displays, complete with the original hardware and interesting story they came with.
