Most likely trolley and electric service lines were lowermost in this scene. One of the the main telegraph lines between Boston, MA and Albany, NY was a bit higher up and strung along 6-pin crossarms. It is believed this was an iron wire route. This telegraph line went straight across Massachusetts (east to west) and likely was updated to hard-drawn copper wire with ten-pin crossarm construction in the early 1910's. Cedar pole replacements were the rule. Many stood until the line was removed around 1990. |
