I was out in the barn rummaging through some surplus insulators and I came across this rather common CD 164 [115] (F-Skirt) BROOKFIELD SB insulators. The Briel Price Guide lists it as only coming in a Blue Aqua, and gives it a hefty value of $3 to $5. I think mine is a little more green than blue, but I don't think that would change the value any. What I like about the insulators is its character. It is amazing how attractive a common insulator can be when it is loaded with those secondary characteristics that are not accounted for in the price guide. This insulator has a little bit of snow, bubbles, wisps of amber, and really pronounced straw lines. The pin hole and inner skirt are significantly off center, and there is slight under pour to the inner skirt. The glass has that 'watery' quality that makes it hard to look right through the insulator. The only thing it doesn't have is a ghost embossing. So it is out of the barn and onto the shelf for this one.
