I purchased this perfectly mint olive amber E.C.& M. Co. from Frank Feher at the Tacoma National Show in 1984. I absolutely love the character -- bubble floating in the skirt in the front, two annealing stress lines on the inside of the skirt that look kinda like tree branches, thick, crude mold lines, fingerprint surface, misshapen, flat areas, just an awesome piece. There's not so much as a dust mite footprint on it (as Ray K. would say), no wire rubs, no flakes, it's just as it came out of the mold. Though I've been tempted to let it go from time to time, yet it remains on the shelf in my collection. I believe Frank indicated that this came off of the Austin to Battle Mountain, NV line when collectors were removing those in about 1970. If the person who picked this piece is still around and remembers retrieving it, I'd sure appreciate it if you could contact me, as I'd like to know more information for historical purposes. |
