Out for a Sunday drive we came to an area where a recent storm had caused considerable damage. I checked out a number of poles where the crews had left the old crossarm and many of the multipart insulators behind. I am happy to say there was nothing of interest or value to be had. Whether it was to save time or just a fetish, all the insulators had at least one ear broken off, I assume to facilitate the removal of the tie wire. Unlike the multiparts last month, these had no other damage. Ain't I just a lucky guy ! Out of about 200 multiparts I've seen removed from service in the last couple months, there were 6 not damaged.
