For sale is a threadless CD 742 M.T.Co. insulator in aqua. This is the less-common EIN [030] (Base) M.T.Co. ['.' under 'o'] {MLOD} {Note base is grooved} BE version with the period under the "o" in Co. As seen in the photos, the major damage is that it was fractured in half. I can't tell if the fracture never separated or if someone just did a really good job of gluing the two halves back together because the fracture edges perfectly match all the way around, and I see no evidence of glue residue. I'm guessing the crack was caused by frost, and it occurred right at a glob of amber impurity in the glass just above the wire groove. As seen in the photo above, the insulator displays VNM+ from this side. Other damage consists of a 1" long chip off the upper wire ridge [id=371314802] and a series of pock marks/small flecks from the dome to the skirt and a scratch all on the same side [id=371314908]. Finally, there is some nibbling and a few small chips along the sharp base edge that do not affect the embossing, as shown [id=371315107]. Sounds much worse than it looks in hand. For added character, there are lots of tiny fizzies that show up with backlighting as well as a few pea-size bubbles in the skirt on the display side, and there are two small blobs of amber, one of which seems to have been the impetus for the crack as noted [id=371315007]. This scarcer embossing variation books for $200-$250 in the Price Guide. I'm asking $175, which includes shipping in the US. Insurance is optional and up to the buyer. Don't wait for a sale, 'cause if this great old workhorse doesn't sell at this price, it goes back onto the display shelf. Thanks for looking.

Back to the shelf.
