Just out side of Adair, Iowa on Highway 6 is a pull off to the sight of the First Train Robbery in the West by Jesse James, his brother Frank James and the boys. The wheel is an actual one that was on the steam locomotive with a section of original track behind it. Jesse had scheduling information that this train was carrying a large Federal Payroll headed out west. The problem ended up being that Jesse's information was days off and the train wasn't carrying the Payroll. There has been an old wise tale locally that the locomotive was disassembled right at the sight and buried along the right way of the rail line.
