The top has three large parts of the left side of the platter that were cleanly broken off when a large tree branch fell on the insulator where it was found . The pieces were epoxied back on cleanly . one of the three parts had a large glaze flake chip that flaked off that was also was found reattached cleanly . Amazingly, the spout and most of the rim on this insulator is in perfect condition with no chips or damage at all !!!. Usually the spouts on these are are damaged and chipped . Even in my own collection all but one of my gutters have at least some form of spout damage :-( Perfect spouts are very rare on these . The base has one clean fracture that was sealed that does not show when displayed and one quarter sized chip on the inside of the base rim that was repaired and also does not show when displayed. This insulator has NO big bondo fills or other porcelain repairs . The top is about as yellow blond as a Fred Locke gets . The base is what I'd call medium sandy tan. This is a very attractive insulator that basically displays like a dead mint specimen ... for less then half the cost of an undamaged one ! . Here is a view of the top[id=369423992] let me know if you want additional photos. I will have this one at Rohde's if not sold by then... |
