Frost Action - Moving Stones & Insulators

Last fall as winter was arriving I took this picture and thought it might provide some insight into the phenomenon of stones ( insulators ) moving in the ground. There is quite a noticeable space around this stone. As was previously explained, when the frost thaws in the spring, grains of dirt will fall into this space and the stone will seem to rise to the surface of the ground. Good collecting .............
