( You can now view this piece in the Museum of the Northwest Lineman Collage in Idaho) Give them a visit if you are ever near Boisie, ID. ! http://www.lineman.edu/programs/idaho-campus.aspx I have reposed this piece with better quality photos. Both taken in natural light with no flash. This is a very pretty example of the worlds first really large pin type insulator produced for the Colgate-Oakland line during the year 1902. The top platter has been repaired . The lower skirts are not broken, chipped, or damaged except for a hairline crack in the base that is almost invisable . The top platter fractures were repaired with two part epoxy . It has chip on the crown rim and a flake chip on the rim underside the size of a quarter that was filled in and painted . There are two roughly penny sized pieces of the platter that were also filled in . This specimen has marking 6-1 but only a few characters of the marking are identifiable . Please contact me for more photos and a more detailed description of the damage The colour of the top is light yellowish sandy tan and the base is more of a sandy brick red colour . The cement joint is original . I can also deliver it free to a west coast insulator show for free. Here is what the top looks like [id=366483169]. I am open to other cash offers or trades so If you really are interested please inquirer. |
