Saw the dark stringer in the dome of this insulator and figured it worth buying if the inner skirt was OK. When I flipped the insulator upside down boy was I surprised by what was between the two skirts. Never seen such a thing before. Did you? It looks like the glass was dripping hot when the insulator was made. What looks like an icecicle now was once attashed at the base of the inside of the outer skirt. Anyone see anything like this before? The insulator had a soil coating on the dome so I'd guess someone found it along the tracks. For some close up looks click the following links.
