Photo taken c.1960 here in southeastern MA. Note the neat local 4kv primary electric distribution crossover pole with a series incandescent acorn-globe street light below (whatta classic billboard in the background!...) The above company was purchased by the Commonwealth Electric Company around the later 1970s. About ten years ago the forementioned gas and electric territory/customers was again purchased...by Nstar (Gas and Electric). Some of this old distribution can still be seen in New Bedford as well as in Cape Cod communities. (New Bedford G&E was once part of Cape and Vineyard Electric). All of Cape Cod now is NStar.
